Guyana School of Agriculture Agro Processing Exhibition Series : #TeamFutureLegacy and My final thoughts on the Agro Processing Exhibition

Future Legacy used Plantain as their base for some extraordinary products and came up with Plantain flour that can be used for baking and porridge. Pickled Vegetable combinations of Bora,Sweet Pepper and Bird Pepper. Plantain Cupcakes,Biscuits as well as mango atchar ,red mango candy and pineapple cheese. This group had no samples and were very shy about talking about their products with the public . I found this slightly offputting since they needed to be prepared to discuss everything from their branding to their packaging with customers. So I tried to encourage them to tell me how awesome your products are to get them talking !! . They also used chalk on the wall to draw their logo instead of using a traditional banner/sign and while the creativity was appreciated it could also indicate a lack of full thought and preparation in the overall marketing approach. However their products were innovate and packaging was well done .

This was a great and inspiring exhibition put together by young agriculturalists which attracted many people .It is great to see our young people learning new skills and using them to produce value added products which can enhance livelihoods and create employment. I have been given a booklet with recipes for creating and doing product development training . I am going to conduct a training using some of these recipes and teach some of the abused women through the  S4 Foundation how to make some of these products. Hats off to the diploma class at the Guyana School of Agriculture for all their hard work !!
